Users Installation Instructions |
Step
by Step Instructions:
- Download
the latest Direct 3D drivers from 3Dfx if you haven't done so already
- Run the .exe file
- Extract to a folder -- we
recommend not using the Windows/Temp directory (the default). Create
a new one specifically for this
- Right click My Computer
on your desktop
- Select Properties
- Note the version of Windows
95 installed on your system:
Written on the General Tab, it states the version: "Microsoft Windows
95 4.00.95 ..." If the last character in the version number is a 0 (zero),
you are running the first version of Win95. If there is any other number
or letter, you are running a newer version. Please jump to the appropriate
section for further installation instructions.
Installation for First
Version of Win95 (4.00.950)
- Left click the Device Manager
tab
- Locate the 3Dfx card. Many
times, it will be located under Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Some
may find it under Multimedia, or Other Devices
- Left click twice on the
3Dfx card
- Left click the Driver tab
- Left click Change Driver
- Left click Have Disk
- Left click Browse and locate
the folder where you extracted the files (step 3)
- After you have located the
folder, left click OK
- On the Select Device screen,
the Voodoo Graphics 3D Accelerator should be highlighted. Left click
OK
- Left click OK on the next
screen
- You will be prompted to
either Restart Your Computer or Insert A Disk
- If you have to restart your
computer, click Yes. When Windows reboots, you're all set. Enjoy Tanarus
- If you are prompted to Insert
Disk, left click OK
- This will bring up the Copying
Files screen. Left click the Browse button
- Locate the folder you extracted
the files to (step 3). Once you have found the folder, left click OK
- Left click OK
- You should now see the Restart
Your Computer prompt. Click Yes and you're all set. Enjoy Tanarus
Installation for Other
Versions of Windows (Example: 4.00.95B)
- Left click the Device Manager
tab
- Locate the 3Dfx card. Many
times, it will be located under Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Some
may find it under Multimedia, or Other Devices
- Left click twice on the
3Dfx card
- Left click the Driver tab
- Left click Update Driver
- With Yes (recommended) selected,
left click on Next
- Allow Windows to search
for the driver. After it locates it, left click Other Locations
- Left click Browse
- Locate the folder you extracted
the files to (step 3). Once you have found the folder, left click OK
- On the Select Other Location
screen, left click OK
- This should bring you back
to the Update Device Driver Wizard screen. Windows should state it "found"
Voodoo Graphics 3D Accelerator. Click OK.
- The Insert Disk screen appears.
Left click OK.
- On the Copying Files screen,
left click Browse.
- Locate the folder you extracted
the files to (step 3). Left click OK.
- On the Copying Files screen,
left click OK.
- After the files are copies,
you'll be prompted to Restart Your Computer. Click Yes and you're all
set. Enjoy Tanarus!
